Hi, I’m Eric Triplett, and I’ve proudly called Lorain home for years. As a disabled veteran, former Delta Force recruit, and a professional with a rich history of dedication and service, I’ve built my life on hard work and passion.
I spent 15 years as an HVAC installer and 18 years working in a maximum-security prison, experiences that shaped my resilience and commitment to excellence. But my true calling has always been with dogs. Since 1987, I’ve been training dogs and learning from them every day. After an 8-year battle to secure VA approval, I became a certified professional dog trainer, combining my passion and expertise to create something truly special.
I founded Buckeye K9 Academy because I believe in the loyalty and honesty of dogs. "Dogs are loyal. They don’t lie; they don’t cheat. All they want is a little bit of love," and that’s what I aim to nurture in every dog I train.
At Buckeye K9 Academy, my goal is to provide personalized, top-notch service to my Lorain neighbors. This isn’t just where I work—it’s where I live, raise my family, and build lasting relationships with my community. Let’s work together to bring out the best in your dog!

"Eric at Buckeye K9 Academy is a true professional! I brought my Rottweiler, Duke, in for help with leash pulling and basic obedience. Eric’s knowledge and experience were evident from the start. He took the time to understand Duke’s personality and created a training plan that worked perfectly. Within weeks, Duke was walking calmly on a leash and following commands with confidence. Eric’s dedication to his craft is unmatched, and I’d recommend him to anyone looking for real results. Great experience all around!"

- Andretta Crenshaw
"Buckeye K9 Academy is a game-changer! Eric is truly gifted when it comes to understanding dogs and their needs. My German Shepherd, Max, was reactive and hard to manage, but after just a few sessions, I saw a remarkable difference. Eric’s training methods are effective, compassionate, and tailored to each dog’s personality. Max is now calm, obedient, and confident, and our bond has grown so much stronger. If you’re looking for top-notch dog training, look no further than Buckeye K9 Academy!"

Start Training Early
Beginning training at a young age is crucial for your pet’s development. Puppies and kittens are more receptive to learning, and early training helps establish good habits and social skills. Focus on basic commands like "sit," "stay," and "come," and gradually introduce more complex tasks as your pet matures. Consistency and positive reinforcement will help them learn faster and build confidence.
Use Positive Reinforcement
Positive reinforcement is one of the most effective training methods. Reward your pet with treats, praise, or playtime whenever they successfully follow a command or display good behavior. This encourages them to repeat the desired actions and fosters a strong bond between you and your pet. Avoid punishment, as it can lead to fear and anxiety, making training more difficult.
Socialize Your Pet
Socialization is essential for helping your pet become well-adjusted and confident. Expose them to various environments, people, and other animals from a young age to prevent fear and aggression. Arrange playdates with other pets, visit dog parks, or enroll in group training classes. A well-socialized pet is more likely to respond positively to commands and behave appropriately in different situations.

I strive to accommodate your schedule as quickly as possible. In most cases, I can arrange an initial consultation or evaluation within a few days. The availability for training sessions depends on the program you choose and current openings. Contact me today, and I’ll do my best to get you started right away!
Training duration depends on your dog’s needs, goals, and the program selected. Some basic obedience programs may take a few weeks, while advanced training or behavioral modification could take several months. I’ll work with you to create a tailored plan and keep you updated on your dog’s progress.
You can start training your dog as early as 8 weeks old. Early training helps instill good behaviors and build a strong bond from the start. That said, dogs of any age can benefit from training—whether they’re puppies, adults, or seniors, it’s never too late to learn!
Yes, I offer evaluations to assess your dog’s behavior, temperament, and training needs. During the evaluation, we’ll discuss your goals and determine the best program to suit you and your dog. Contact me to schedule your evaluation!
